While we were in India, we made a quick trip to Bombay and Puna to see some of our other relatives. We didn’t get much time to tour all the famous landmarks but I was fascinated to see the city of Bombay. I call it the city of the rich and poor. You can see all the glamor and glitz as well as the dirt and grime. You have to some guts to drive around in this city. Puna was a much quieter city and we had a chance to see Agar Khan Palace. Mahatma Ghandi’s burial ground is here as well as some of his other belongings and other artifacts that were used by him. Well here are some pics from our quick trip.

Hope you liked the snap shots. We wish we could have seen some other historic landmarks but due to lack of time, we had to quickly wrap up our trip.

Last month Suma and I took a trip to India and we also stopped over in Dubai for a few days. It was a lot of fun meeting family, friends and seeing new places. I decided to have multiple posts to break up the three week trip so that its easier to follow along. The first post will cover our short trip to Munnar in the state of Kerala, India. For those interested in reading more about Munnar, please follow up on this wikipedia post. To summarize, Munnar is a hilly region occupied with tea estates. The place is very scenic and cool in climate. Compared to to the hot and warm weather where I lived in Kerala this place was a joy to stay.

Some of the pics as we make our way to Munnar.

We also stopped over in Thekkady to see the Periyar lake but unfortunately we didn’t spot any elephants by the lake. The lake was formed from the construction of the Mullaperiyar Dam. However we did spot some deer, wild boar, foxes and bulls.
These trees were gone when the dam was constructed. All that remains are the tall branches that extends from the roots to provide a home to these birds.

Now these are the tea estates of Munnar. TATA owns most of tea estates in Munnar.

The below pics are the mountains that border the state of Tamil Nadu.

Off from the mountains and to the dam.

I will post the rest of the pictures on facebook as one big gallery shortly. Hope you guys enjoyed it.
